Without key players like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles departed Dublin with a commanding win that virtually secures them a spot in the Europa Conference League playoffs.

Another victory in their next fixture against Finland's KuPS ought to be sufficient to secure direct passage to the knockout stages, particularly after a previous setback against Strasbourg.

This match provided a chance for some of Palace's fringe players to shine. Christantus Uche, in only his second start after arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the account with a clinical goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a second, scoring for the second consecutive match.

The contest was as good as over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past some comically weak challenges before calmly dispatching a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

After the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to rest key players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring with his first touch, but saw his effort blocked.

Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one shot crash off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then blazed a glaring chance, showing there is still scope for improvement in his game.

A solitary concern for Palace was a late knock to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This allowed 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to earn his first-team debut, capping an otherwise perfect night for the visiting side.
